A native of Washington, DC, Inemesit Edet is a recognized leader in legal eBilling, billing technology, and the future of financial operations for law firms and corporate legal departments. As Founder & CEO of Smart eBill Team, Inemesit brings over a decade of hands-on experience in billing transformation, operational strategy, and AI-driven financial innovation.

Inemesit’s career began when she was recruited as the first eBilling Coordinator for a prominent IP law firm, where she built the firm’s eBilling function from the ground up. She developed custom eBilling manuals and tracking systems—tools still in use by the firm today—and quickly earned a reputation for reducing outstanding AR and driving process improvements. Her expertise led her to serve as eBilling Administrator for a leading general practice firm, where she managed all aspects of billing operations, trained large teams, and implemented new billing standards.

As technology evolved, Inemesit became an early advocate for the use of AI in legal billing and financial management. Now a sought-after trainer and speaker, she travels nationally to educate legal professionals on billing best practices, the future of billing, and the transformative impact of AI on legal operations. Her consulting work with Smart eBill Team empowers clients to achieve greater accuracy, efficiency, and transparency through AI-enabled solutions.

Inemesit also serves as the Marketing Director on the board of the LEDES Oversight Committee, contributing to the development of global legal billing standards and the Uniform Task-Based Management System (UTBMS).

Beyond the Boardroom:
A passionate traveler and boutique hotel enthusiast, Inemesit curates and shares her favorite boutique stays—especially in her hometown of DC—through her blog and Instagram @ebillwhisperer. She believes that work-life balance is essential for innovation and wellbeing, and she is dedicated to helping others discover inspiring spaces that blend productivity with authentic local experiences.
